Usabilty Studies Key to Web Stragtegy and CMS Implementation
The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is a private, freestanding medical school dedicated to leadership and excellence in advancing the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease and injury through, education, discovery, patient care and community engagement.
The MCW web site supports 40 departments, an intranet, as well as web applications such as health risk-calculators, physician finders and enrollment tools.
As a long time client, MCW engaged Northwoods to head up a planning effort to support upcoming online initiatives including an analysis of audiences and web usability studies.
The outcome of the strategy was to redesign the web site to support the following:
• Powerful search engine for global site as well as advanced search for departmental sites.
• New Information Architecture
• A Redesign and new Information Architecture for the intranet
• The ability to tag and filter content on the site to better categorize information for groups of users.
• Implement AJAX in order to make for a more interactive experience for the users
In order to accomplish the above an enterprise class content management tool was needed to support the 200+ content authors and editors at MCW. Titan CMS was chosen as the new content management system and was implemented successfully on time in within budget. View live site
